Flu blues

You know, it would be nice to remember wise words when you actually need them. For example, this week I've been laid up with the flu. I got back up on day four even though I still was a bit yucky but at least my temperature had regulated again, When you do, you're expected to go from 0-60 and get right back into everything. House, work, etc.

My mother warned me years ago when I was first married about this. She said that if I was ever unwell, not to put a toe on the floor until I was completely better because if you show the slightest sign of being on the mend, any help you've been getting disappears. It's true! But it still bugs me.

Get well soon Scribbler! And tell those folks in your house that your being vertical again does NOT mean they can stop helping. It just ticks me off when a family thinks that the woman of the house must do *everything* and then some. You are not their maid and they must help.

Hey Scribbler, hope you are feeling better. You caught that nasty flu bug pretty early and it's not even flu season, yet. It must have been pretty bad if you were laid up for at least 4 days. The thing that really stinks is when you start to feel better and then you over do and start feeling bad again. I love your mother's advice. It seems so true that if the mom is sick, she still muddles through the day and takes care of the family, but if the dad is sick, then he gets to just lay around. Totally unfair...and I'm the dad. :)

I tried working through it too on my writing jobs. All I did was get up, try do a bit, then crawled back under the covers. It's the housework side that I'm meaning really - funny how everyone can manage for themselves and don't starve to death if I'm not well but somehow lose the power of their hands once I'm vertical again. It's the only time you see them doing dishes without having to be asked.

Ah sad but true indeed. You get stuck to the bed for days and after that it's back to work like nothing ever happened. Not so with me though, I was a perfect angel then. I always helped out. XD Although my mom worked even though sick then that I had no choice but to help out or else watch her work sick and that's just not going to happen. :p
