Chinese Electronic Products
8:51 AM on Mar. 10, 2008
I'm just another victim of a fake Nokia phone that is made in China, why are they allowing this people to produce fake items anyway?
I'm starting to hate all products that are made in China.

Yesterday I went to an electronic shop because I need an adapter for my old portable compact disc player. When I got home I tested
it but can't set it to the right voltage, I've checked the voltage coming out of it using a tester and I found out it's not producing the correct
voltage and after a 30 minutes of trying to make it work the adapter gets busted. Oh well, that's what I get for choosing cheap products.
It's really best to go for quality than quantity. I wouldn't ask for a replacement of it, for sure the product will not last that long.

Hence why I prefer to buy things that are high-quality, and have good customer reviews. Especially for consumables like batteries and the like. If I even suspect that a store sold me a cheap knockoff, I'll be over there with a devils bargain, refund in one hand, and an investigation in the other.

If you can't shell out an extra $5-10, even in these times, then you don't really need it that badly.

I hate it when I have to learn a lesson like that. I've been through my own situations where I've gone cheap and as the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Now I will pay more for a well made product instead of just looking for something with the lowest price. It just isn't worth the headaches and the wasted money.

Scribbler, most of the bargains in your place are probably of good quality, but sad to say not all countries have tight policies on products that come in from other countries. I was really disappointed that time, and I think the replacement wouldn’t last long either. I’ve learned my lesson there.

That's a real shame you got stung like that. I've been lucky and never had that happen which really is a miracle, because I can't resist a bargain. If I were you I'd still ask for a replacement though. You shelled out your cash for it whether it was cheap or not, so why not? The worst they can do is say no.

I always try to choose quality over quantity as well. Now there have been some instances where I chose to buy a more affordable off brand, and it ended up working well. But those are usually far and few in between.

My mom drummed this saying into me when I was a kid - "The cheap stuff ends up becoming more expensive." What she meant by that is that Brand X stuff, say, a DVD player, might be more affordable at first, but it won't run as well as Brand Y, and eventually you have to replace the cheaper one when it (a) doesn't perform well or (b) breaks down faster than the DVD player made with better parts and workmanship.

@all I agree you’re both right. I’m just disappointed with the products I’ve acquired lately. I have also acquired a web cam with a built in mic. Logitech costs twice the Chinese brand DELUX so I chose DELUX but I can’t reduce the noise of the mic and I can’t get support for it. I should choose a good brand next time not necessarily expensive but a trusted brand.

Yep. My HP Compaq Presario was made in China, and while not exactly the most expensive thing I own, it sure wasn't cheap.

Just remember the old Roman saying: Caveat Emptor!

You're right. Always choose quality over quantity or price. I have been burned several times from choosing a cheaper product that supposedly does the same thing as the more expensive.
Don't hate all products made in China because tons of things we buy are made in China and some are fine!!
