Gmail or Yahoo mail?
6:52 AM on Jan. 24, 2008

I’ve been a yahoo mail user for more than 5 years; it was ok never had major problems with my account, the only problem I had with it was the Spam’s I receive daily. I tried Gmail last year, and I find it easier and have a good spam filter than yahoo mail, and one thing I love with Gmail is that it supports pop3 mails. I only use my yahoo account now for yahoo messenger, but yesterday I had a problem with my yahoo mail account. I just tried to log in and Every time I log in it takes too long to load my account. I tried it on other PC’s with a different ISP and I still experienced the same. I e-mailed yahoo support about it then they asked me to do some things but it didn’t help at all. We tried my wife’s yahoo account and we were able to access it smoothly, so I tried creating a new account to see if  the problem was on my PC. I was able to create a new account and I was also able to access it well. I think my old yahoo account was spamed or something but I’m waiting for the reply of yahoo and I hope they can find a way to fix the problem.

I agree with you musiclover, Gmail is a lot better and I'm starting to hate yahoo messenger. Every time I open it I receive a lot of offline messages from spammers. When will yahoo fix this problem? I haven't tried Google chat software; maybe it's time for me to try it.

I recently opened both a yahoo account and a gmail account. My yahoo address has received a TON of spam and gmail nothing at all. Also, the gmail account seems to receive confirmation emails much, much faster than yahoo which can sometimes take as much as 24 hours.

Maybe yahoo really needs some help; I've read in some forums that Microsoft is bidding for Yahoo. If that happens, maybe these issues like spamming, and other technical problems will now be resolved and I'm hoping their mail and messenger bugs will be fixed.

Yahoo, unfortunately, has gone downhill in many areas. Yahoo Chat is now populated by porn site bots, and chatting with real people is no longer really possible. Mail, too, sucks. I tried registering for a website for business writers and used my Yahoo account to do so...haven't received the confirmation yet.

Just an update on what happened to my yahoo mail account. I did send another e-mail to yahoo support but this time I did not get a reply from them, and after 2 days my account was already back to normal. I think they found out what's going on but didn't inform me. I wonder why. I think I’ll just stick with Gmail.
