Hina Festival
4:30 AM on Feb. 25, 2008

Japanese people have custom to celebrate the Doll Festival in March 3rd for  girls,

It is also called the Peach festival,

People display Hina dolls on a tiered stand at home and wish for the sound

growth and happiness  of their daughters.

I don't display Hina dolls since I have no children.

However when I was a child, my uncles and aunts sent the gorgeous

Hina dolls of a tiered stand  for my older sister and me as a gift,

we have happy memory to display them for several years.

Last year, I made the qulit for Hina Festival with rabbit applique design.

and I sewed another tapestry since I found a fabric of Hina doll deisgn.

The length of both works is about 20 inches.

I just upped the pictures of the works on my album.

They're into " Original artwork"

Wish you'll enjoy it,

cirereyes. Amazake tastes good, it's pity I've never tried the rice wine while I've been in Cali a few years, I got tipsy
to drink Amazake too much with my friend when I was about 7 years old, we laughed pretty much after drank at that time
Funny Hina festival memory, In the boys' festival we display the Samurai Doll or the War helmet called Kabuto,
Sure, I will up the pic on May 5th,

Oh I see, I wonder if Amazake is similar to the rice wine here in our place. So Hina dolls festival is for everyone and is celebrated by the whole country. What are you displaying during the boy's festival? I'm guessing maybe traditional alcoholic drinks.

cirereyes: Peach flowers bloom in March, so we display it on the Hina dolls stand. and enjoy a sweet alcoholic drink made from rice called " Amazake" , it's a thick, white liquid, unlike ordinary japanese sake,,It's low in alchol and is even drunk by children.
People all over Japan celebrate Hina Festival, And we celebrate also the Boys' Festival in May 5th, I will introduce it in May.

I'm just wondering why it was also called a peach festival if they would display dolls. I'm interested about the history of that festival. When did this festival start and is it only a festival that is exclusively celebrated in Tokyo?
