8 kids, each made feel like the only one

A neighbor and a dear friend of ours had recently passed away. She had cancer, and we knew it was getting her. This lady and her husband had raised 8 children. They all came for the funeral, and one of them said something very special and very characteristic of this lady. She said, "Mom had made each of us feel like we were the only child." How, that's quite a trick to do when you have 8 children!

Its really great to hear this. I wonder how that mother could have balanced the proportion among all. It will be very difficult to bring up their children in such a way. I could imagine how much sufferings the mother would have undergone and pain of her.

The 8 kids are all grown up, most of them married, so at least it is not the situation of the father being left with 8 young kids to raise tho still need their mom. The lady was 75... She has had a fulfilling life. Her husband is older than her, and he has grown much weaker since her passing. We all think that he had been holding it together for her sake, but now that she is gone, he will probably follow soon enough. :(

Problem is that it's not exactly a disease, it's when the cells turn bad and don't die off on their own. There really is no easy way to stop cell duplication without having nasty downsides.

Still, I hope he's handling everything fine, get yourself some good karma and lend a hand to him when he needs it.

That is just so wonderful of that child to say that about her mom. Cancer is such an awful disease. I wish the medical community would find a cure so that people would not have to suffer with this disease. I hope the husband and 8 children are hanging in there. That's really all you can do when someone you love dies.
